EVENTING BEGINS WITH FIRST-DAY DRESSAGE LEAD FOR BOLLERET FROM FRANCE, WHILE IRISH HEAD TEAM RANKING Marine Bolleret and Perle du Boisdelanoue from France head the individual standings, while the Irish hold a slender advantage over Germany on the team table with Great Britain in third following the first day of Eventing Dressage at the FEI European Pony Championships in Arezzo, Italy today.
A total of 25 riders completed their tests this afternoon, and Bolleret’s score of 45.20 left her 0.2 marks ahead of Germany’s Annie Kamieth and Mr Harvey in second place while Italy’s Maria Sole Girardi and Loughtown Lass slotted into third with a score of 46.20.
Ireland’s Shannon Nelson and Millridge Buachaill Bui finished fourth on 47.30, and when team-mate Nessa Briody steered Rathnaleen Dark Secret into seventh spot when posting 49.80 that secured a first-day tally of 97.10 to leave them at the top of the team leaderboard. Kameith and Julian Wippermann, lying 14th with Chessy on a score of 54.20, have secured second spot for Germany while Libby Seed (Mr Vick) and Chelsea Pearce (Catherston Nutsafe) who claimed fifth and sixth slots put Britain in overnight third.  
Significant changes can be expected tomorrow (Friday) however when another 26 competitors will take their turn. The Eventing discipline at the 2013 FEI European Pony Championships then continues with Saturday’s cross-country phase, while the medals will be finally decided in the showjumping arena on Sunday.
